This camp has been one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve ever had. Initially stepping off the bus, I felt quite nervous and unsure of what to expect. However, quickly my nerves were put at ease once we began to settle and properly speak to one another.

Throughout this week I have had soooo many great experiences and learned many new skills and increased my knowledge thanks to both the consumers and the healthcare workers. Things such as how to support someone through their lived experience, how to be an active listener and how to interact with someone with lived experience – which we had a lot of practice with. I learned more in one week than I did in a whole semester!

The most rewarding part has definitely been getting to know the consumers and seeing such big positive changes in them over just a few days – watching them build their confidence and enjoy themselves. As well as this, having beautiful facilitators who show so much support and take the time to offer suggestions on the best way to communicate with some of the people with lived experience.

Recovery Camp has been such an eye-opening and beautifully raw experience that I will never forget. I highly recommend this camp to anybody who is able to attend. It is such a wonderful community full of love and support and will have you walking away with your heart so full and with experiences you will never forget.

Thank you Recovery Camp!
