One of my favourite quotes that I remember from Recovery Camp is “The lessons I got from this camp will be much more valuable than what I learned from the textbook”.

Recovery camp has offered me, a nursing student, an incredible chance to deepen my understanding of mental health since this camp has provided me invaluable insights into the lived experiences of individuals struggling with mental health issues. Also, this camp has allowed me to practice and refine my therapeutic communication skills in a supportive environment. I will never forget all the group therapy sessions, one-on-one conversations, and recreational activities. The mental and physical challenges that we faced together through team and trust-building activities have changed the way how I perceive mental illness as well as expanding my knowledge thanks to both experts and the clinical facilitator team.

I will never regret joining this camp as part of my mental health placement, as this place has offered me such personal growth opportunities. Lastly, engaging with individuals navigating their recovery journey can be both inspiring and humbling, providing me with valuable lessons in resilience and self-awareness.
